Twerking Fail Video

Jimmy Kimmel stated the video was only posted on Youtube, but the first time I saw it was on vine. Since it had gotten so many views on Youtube(9 million within less than a week), people started to record it off Youtube and post it on other websites as well. When I first saw this video, I thought that Daphne Avalon, (Caitlin Heller), was taking a video of herself doing an upside down version of the well-known dance move known as the twerk since it was "the new thing". When I saw her fall on the table and catch on fire it surprised me, I did not see that coming. I couldn't help but laugh, even though I felt bad for her.  I thought that her friend accidentally opened the door, I would have never thought it was a hoax. When I saw the directors video I was slightly shocked, I didn't think Jimmy Kimmel would show up with the fire extinguisher. I guess many people such as myself was surprised to find out the video was a fake, surprised to find out the video was a fake, when it looked so realistic.

Our world has gradually changed over the years. Many people in our society look up to and try to copy the image of celebrities and models. The media persuades and influences us to think we must look and act a certain way to fit in. Miley Cyrus encouraged this twerking move, and it became a trend for teens. Many people thought Miley Cyrus should be blamed for this incident, since she was setting a bad example. Personally, I don't think it was Miley Cyrus's fault since she is not responsible for what others do. She is a normal person just like everyone else, it is not her fault if someone tries to copy her, so therefore she shouldn't be blamed for other people's actions.  It was Caitlin Heller's decision to twerk on her room door, not Miley Cyrus's, so therefore Caitlyn should suffer the consequences.
I think Jimmy Kimmel was trying to give a message about our society and youtube by creating this video. "Fire catches ,and then it spreads". This quote refers to people spreading everything they hear or see to their friends or relatives. I personally think that is the reason Jimmy Kimmel made the video about a girl catching on fire. He wanted to show how fast people can find out about things in a small amount of time ,just by going on the internet. Furthermore, he also created this video to show teens how dangerous and stupid twerking can be. Finally, he wanted to show how big the media is and how great it can affect our society.
